My name is Alex Winkler and I am currently the Vice President of Membership, or Recruitment Chair, for Tri Delta at Centre College. Going through Recruitment was one of the best decisions I have made during my college years, and I hope that you decide to participate in the process as well. As cliché as it sounds, by joining Tri Delta, I have made many lifelong friendships and truly found my “home away from home” at Centre. Being a part of Tri Delta has also helped me develop skills that will benefit me in whatever stage of life I am in. I have become so much more involved in Centre as a member of Greek Life, and also have been able to get more involved in the Danville community as well. Coming into Centre I wasn’t sure if being a part of Greek life was for me, but becoming a part of Tri Delta has made me realize how much better my life has become because of it.
Formal Recruitment here at Centre takes place at the beginning of spring semester, which gives you plenty of time to get to know Greek women during the fall semester and CentreTerm. Recruitment can definitely be a crazy and overwhelming time, but once you find your new home, it will all be worth it! Here is my advice during the Recruitment process to help you find the place you will call home:
First, remember who you are and what kind of women you want to surround yourself with. You want to find a chapter that you feel you can fit into, not one that makes you feel you must fit a certain image, so just make sure to be yourself throughout the recruitment process!
Second, ask the women in the chapters why they chose the chapter they did. They are very passionate about their chapter and will love to answer this question for you. When you listen to their response, see if you share their passion.
Third, the women on the other side of Recruitment are just as nervous and excited as you are, no matter how put together they may seem. Just as you may be hoping that the affiliated women like you, they are also hoping that you like them! So don’t stress over the small things and have a great time meeting new people through the recruitment process.
If you have any questions about Recruitment at Centre, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Rho Gamma or me. We will do our best to answer your questions!
I look forward to meeting you!
